Our Gatlinburg Trips have grown to the point that I had to start adding sub pages to document our trips. You can see these trips by clicking the signs below.

Wedding 2009 JCF Rally 2009 JCF Rally 2008

We have camped in Gatlinburg, TN. for many years now.

We started out with our Viking popup in 1997 and then the Rockwood hybrid in 2000 and finally the Outback in 2005.

For the first few years, we always camped at Crazy Horse Campground . Crazy Horse has every amenity that you could ever want from a campground. They do have a tendency to be very crowded on holiday weekends though. We never really had any complaints about the place, but high prices ($44.00 night) finally drove us to seek out something new. We have since been to Smoky Bear Campground several times. Smoky Bear is much smaller than Crazy Horse, but has always been clean and provided everything that we need. Even though we stay in the Outback, tent campers should check out Smoky Bear, they have a great tent area!

Update: Crazy Horse Campground has been purchased by Adventure Bound Camping. We decided to try them again in early October of 2005 as their rates had come down quite a bit. This was not an enjoyable stay. The rates have gone down, but so has the quality of service and upkeep of the campground. My next trip to Gatlinburg will be back at Smoky Bear.

Gatlinburg is a tourist town with lots of visitors. When it comes to money, you can spend as little or as much as you want there. When you want to spend money, I recommend Dollywood, Dixie Stampede, and Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies. When you want to save a little money and just enjoy the scenery, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the place to be. Clingmans Dome and the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail are two sights not to be missed!
